Frequently Asked Questions

Howdy! BuyLater is currently in beta and we invite you to join us during this exciting phase of our development. There may be a few key features missing and some small errors here and there, but BuyLater is ready to be shared with the world for large scale testing and feedback. Below are a few frequently asked questions and answers. We will continue to update this page. If you don’t find an answer to your question, please use our live chat system or email us at support@buylater.com.

  • I installed BuyLater, but the confirmation email never came!
Please check your spam folder and make sure you entered your email address correctly. If you still can’t find the confirmation email, use our live chat system and we’ll sort it out for you. You can also email us at support@buylater.com. back to top
  • Why is item information sometimes ‘verifying’ when I first watch something?
Sometimes it can take a while before we can retrieve and verify price data. Our verification system requires two clients to send the same data to our server before an item can be verified. This process will speed up once we have more users - so share BuyLater with your friends! back to top
  • Something is wrong. I think I found a bug. What should I do?
Finding a bug in real life can be a little startling, but in the software world it’s nothing to be afraid of! BuyLater is currently in beta, so bugs will surely be cropping up. Please let us know so we can fix it by using our live chat system or by emailing us at support@buylater.com. back to top
  • Why is the price in the email higher than what Amazon offers?
Within Amazon BuyLater tracks (by default) Amazon only, New, and Used vendors. The price in the email should match the lowest price across all vendors, which may often be a New or Used vendor. back to top
  • How do I change my vendor settings for Amazon?
Click the Tools icon directly to the right of the BuyLater. Here you can select which vendors you want to track price drops for. back to top
  • How do I change my default vendor settings for Amazon?
On the Settings page in BuyLaterHQ you can change the default vendor settings for Amazon. back to top
  • Since BuyLater is free, how do you make money?
The links we provide contain affiliate IDs in them. When you purchase a product after clicking one of our links, that site will pay us a small commission on what you purchase. It doesn't increase what you're paying in any way, and it gives us the means to continue improving BuyLater, while keeping it free. back to top
  • What countries does BuyLater work with?
Right now BuyLater is only working on sites in the U.S. We are working hard to support Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.uk, and many other international shopping sites. back to top
  • BuyLater doesn’t support my favorite shopping site. Can you support it?
Yes! We are always working to support new sites. Please email us suggested sites to support at suggestedsites@buylater.com. back to top
  • I have an idea for a new BuyLater feature. Can you create it?
Yes! We love to hear your ideas for new features. Please use our live chat system or contact us at contact@buylater.com. back to top
  • How does BuyLater get its price data?
When you install BuyLater, you become part of a massive grid-computer, that helps all the BuyLater users stay on top of the latest prices. When your browser is running, BuyLater does a polling job every so often, and sends the results back to our server for all the users to share. There's no personal information involved, and it uses a very small amount of bandwidth. back to top
