Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
BuyLater lets you save a product you want to buy later and notifies you when a condition you chose is met. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can manage or delete your data.
What we collect
- Email address — to send you notifications and a link to view or cancel your saved items.
- Product details you save — the product name, an optional product URL, and the condition to watch for (back in stock, price drop, new release, or simply saving it for later).
- Country code — to tailor monitoring; defaults to AU.
- Capture context — which surface you used (our website or an AI assistant) and basic request details such as referrer and browser user-agent, to understand how the service is used.
- Account identifier — if you connect through an AI assistant, we store an identifier for your authenticated account (via Clerk) so your saved items are linked to you.
Browser extension
The BuyLater browser extension lets you save a product from any store and get alerts when the price drops, hits a target you set, or it comes back in stock. It follows the same principles as the rest of BuyLater, with a few specifics:
- What it collects: your account email, taken from your passwordless email sign-in (code or link), so you never type it into the extension; the products you explicitly save; and the price we detect on the page at the moment you save. For each saved item we store its name, page URL and store, that detected price, and any target price or notify condition you set.
- On-demand only: the extension reads a page's product details only when you act, by opening the popup or using the right-click "Save to BuyLater". There is no always-on content script, and nothing is saved automatically.
- No browsing tracking: it does not record the pages you visit, run in the background, read your other tabs, or track you across sites.
We use this only to provide the service: to monitor the products you saved and email you when your condition is met (price drop, target price, or back in stock). We do not sell your data.
You can stop monitoring and remove a saved item at any time from the extension's list, the "manage" link in the extension, or the manage link in any BuyLater email. To delete your account and associated data, contact support@buylater.com.
How we use it
- To save your products and email you when your condition is met.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell your personal information.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use buylater.com so we can improve it. It sets cookies and collects usage data such as the pages you view, how you got to the site, and general information about your device, browser, and approximate location. We use this as aggregate statistics to see how the site is performing, not to identify you, and we do not connect it to the email or saved products in your BuyLater account. Google processes this information as our service provider. You can opt out using your browser settings or Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run BuyLater:
- Neon — database hosting (stores your saved items).
- Resend — sending our email.
- Clerk — passwordless sign-in for AI-assistant connections.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Google Analytics for website usage measurement (aggregate statistics).
Retention and your choices
We keep a saved item until you cancel it or it expires. Every email we send includes a link to view or cancel that item at any time. To request deletion of your data, contact us at the address below.
